Stress Relief

Meditiation is a proven stress reliever. It builds peoples' resources and capacity to manage the stressors in their life. 

What is Stress?

Stress is the resultant of imbalances. Imbalances may originate outside of us, but how we react to them can throw matters yet further out of balance. For example, if you have a lot of responsibility but very little authority or respect, this imbalance is stress enough. But such a psychic environment is also conducive to the flourishing of resentment, and a sense of isolation or abandonment may set in, so that imbalance is driven even more wildly awry. Zen meditation is organized around the establishment of equipoise, and therefore counteracts stress by the most direct means possible. Equipoise is balance. It entails a non-sentimental, non-judgmental, non-opinionated and scrupulous field of awareness.
